Before starting the program, I had previously been a business advisor – telling people what they should do, rather than helping them to find their own way. And I did this because I didn’t have the coaching tools I needed to help them. I am loving the interactions I am having now between my team members and others who I have started to coach.¬†Before I used to give advice – lots of it. I also used to ask ‘why’ all the time. It was out of curiosity more than demanding to know what they were thinking, however I can now see how damaging that was. I have the confidence to stay silent, and let them think and to be able to hold the space so they can talk out loud. I have confidence that I can walk into an organisation and make a difference to their people and their profits. Emma Rhoades
